Photo Op

Last week Kimberly came over to take pictures of Micah.
During the photo shoot Noelle found a tutu among Kimberly's equipment. Of course she couldn't resist putting it on. Click on the links below to see the outcome.

Blanket of Flowers

The best part about visiting Beth is the food. Okay, not just the food, the company is fantastic, but the food is a close second. For breakfast our first morning there she made banana pancakes with blueberry syrup and fruit smoothies. Mmm.
This is a field by Beth's house, isn't it amazing?

Blast from the Past

My good friend from high school, Courtney Lilly got married this weekend. Courtney and Beth and I did a lot of hanging out in high school. I remember sledding and movies and general craziness. I am grateful that after 15 years of very little contact I can still count these two as great friends. They are those friends that you don't communicate with forever and then one day you get an email from them like time hasn't passed. I love that kind of friendship. They hold no grudge that I haven't written for years.

It was a beautiful wedding. Courtney and Amy were married by Courtney's dad. At the end he delayed the you may kiss the bride part, interminably. Courtney and Amy were about to kiss without his permission when he finally said it.

Micah came to the wedding with us. He was very popular. In years to come when they look at their wedding pictures they are going to wonder who's baby Micah is, because he was photographed with so many different people.

I loved talking with Doctor Doctor Beth Beadle. She's just finishing up her MD/PhD program this year. Wow! Beth worked magic with Micah. Every time he was in her arms his eyelids began to droop. He couldn't resist the sleepiness brought on by her subtle bouncing. Cody would have been proud. I also enjoyed talking to Josh Klein and his wife Alma. All in all it was a great weekend.

The Grand Prix

While we were in Long Beach yesterday we got a peek at the Grand Prix. This was Indy's first taste of professional racing. He was bored, but his dad loved it.

Cody's Advice

The other day I was holding Micah and he was fussing. Cody came over to rescue me. He said, "Here mom, I'll show you how to make him stop crying." He took Micah in his arms like the picture and started to bounce him up down. He then proceeded to explain to me why this is effective, "He likes it because he thinks your walking around even though you are standing still." I thanked Cody and sent him off to bed.

On another note, I cut Cody's hair last week. He was not in favor of this. I tried to talk him into sitting down for me, I quickly moved on to bribery and from there to threats. Eventually he was in the chair. When he sat down he complained that it would take forever and he asked me to just shave it off so it would be over sooner. In case you didn't know Cody loved having longer hair. So I asked him if he really wanted me to cut it short. He didn't answer, so I took that for a yes and started cutting deep. When Cody realized what had happened he was mad. I reiterated that I had double checked with him and he hadn't answered me. I know I am a super mom, but sometimes my kids think I can read minds. Sadly this is not the case as Cody found out the hard way.

Question of the day

David asked, "Mom, does the baby have an exoskeleton?" I was impressed that he knew the word exoskeleton. I simply answered, "No he has an endoskeleton."

BUGS

Noelle is terrified of all bugs. One day I heard her screaming. Not just any scream, the kind of scream you would make if you were afraid for your life. I ran to her with super speed. When I reached her I cried, "What's wrong?" Somehow in her terror she was able to communicate to me that there was a bug on her. I found a cute little lady bug crawling on her leg. Ever since then I have tried to help her overcome her fear of bugs. The other day we went on a walk and Cody and David found a lady bug. I asked Noelle if she'd like to hold it.

Noelle- "I will hold the lady bug when I be a boy."

I didn't know how to explain to her that would never happen . . . then I thought, maybe that's exactly why she said it.

Dan in Real Life

As Jeromy and I were watching "Dan in Real Life," Jeromy said, "This reminds me of my family." That was during the work out section. Yes, we Dyers have done family exercise classes. We've also had family salsa lessons. We have had family sporting events. We have had family talent shows. We have even played that game where you try to guess the celebrity, what's that called Lauren? We have used the laundry room as a bedroom for the single person, but that's not Shane anymore! Last time he was in town he climbed from laundry room to private room with a queen size bed, see what the benefits of marriage are? Family bowling is also a Dyer pasttime. Hmm . . . it's kind of quirky!
