Question of the day?

I was doing dishes and Minna said out of the blue, "Do you think that celebrity animals have funerals? ...I'm not talking about animals of celebrities, but real celebrity animals."

Shopping for Hannahs

Dan took Hannah and our cart to go fetch some groceries from the car. Hannah insisted on getting in the cart, and staying there. She cried when we had to take her out.

Saturday fun.

"... perviously on the Hannah channel, Hannah is afraid of the water, stay tuned for the next episode, Will Hannah ever learn to like water..."

Hannah has definately warmed up to the cold water. She'll play in it not realizing how cold she is. She even likes to taste it.

Hannah is really getting couragous. She can do the toddler slide all by herself now... with her eyes closed.

I think I'm done

I suppose this is official, but not really. I think I'll always do books. I have finally realized that as cool as it is to have your own business, it needs to run well. I wasn't running it well, just slowly. I had it down to a nice pattern, but I wasn't keeping up on it and the margins for a few hours of work every other month just wasn't much. But I certainly had a great exprience. I think I'll probably still keep some supplies around so I can give journals as gifts. People love gifts that you make yourself. I've now taken the site down, so here is a picture as a memorial. Duster Books 2001-2006

Happy 4th of July!

We had a great 4th, without even trying. At the last minute our good friends, the Bates, gave us some tickets for grandstand viewing of the Macy's fireworks show along the East River. As soon as we got there, we were seated in the front row (no fighting for a spot) but not before we got all kinds of free stuff, including as many free beverages as we wanted. We also got to bypass many security checks because we were with Matthew in uniform. We felt rather important. We may have even been on TV as it was an NBC broadcast.
The show started with performances by Bo Bice (yeah, you know who he is you closet American Idol fans) and Nick Lachey. Of course we were most excited to know that Lionel Ritchie, a "mega superstar" they called him, would be singing too.
On to the real show...
The fireworks were AMAZING- the biggest and longest show I've ever been to. The same sequence of fireworks came from three different barges on the river so they absolutely filled the sky.
We had to prep Hannah for the intensity, although she was probably used to the noise and excitment that came beforehand (when Lionel Ritchie sang of course). She did great through the entire show! She was awe struck with BIG eyes and a gaping mouth. We're pretty sure she enjoyed it. We certainly did.
We thought we couldn't take pics of the show (we were wrong), but here is Hannah looking patriotic.
