Happy 4th of July!

We had a great 4th, without even trying. At the last minute our good friends, the Bates, gave us some tickets for grandstand viewing of the Macy's fireworks show along the East River. As soon as we got there, we were seated in the front row (no fighting for a spot) but not before we got all kinds of free stuff, including as many free beverages as we wanted. We also got to bypass many security checks because we were with Matthew in uniform. We felt rather important. We may have even been on TV as it was an NBC broadcast.
The show started with performances by Bo Bice (yeah, you know who he is you closet American Idol fans) and Nick Lachey. Of course we were most excited to know that Lionel Ritchie, a "mega superstar" they called him, would be singing too.
On to the real show...
The fireworks were AMAZING- the biggest and longest show I've ever been to. The same sequence of fireworks came from three different barges on the river so they absolutely filled the sky.
We had to prep Hannah for the intensity, although she was probably used to the noise and excitment that came beforehand (when Lionel Ritchie sang of course). She did great through the entire show! She was awe struck with BIG eyes and a gaping mouth. We're pretty sure she enjoyed it. We certainly did.
We thought we couldn't take pics of the show (we were wrong), but here is Hannah looking patriotic.
